Integrated Provincial Health Office Urges Continued Vigilance

Lanao del Sur, Philippines – The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) of Lanao del Sur has announced that the laboratory results for the first suspected Mpox case in the province have come back negative. This confirmation comes from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), relieving concerns about a potential outbreak in the region.

The patient, who was admitted to Amai Pakpak Medical Center, underwent extensive testing after presenting symptoms resembling Mpox. The IPHO expressed gratitude to the Department of Health (DOH), RITM, and other stakeholders for their prompt response and support in confirming the results.

“We commend the healthcare team and our partners for their swift action in addressing this case,” said Dr. Alinader Minalang, Provincial Health Officer of Lanao del Sur. Special recognition was also given to DOH Region X, Amai Pakpak Medical Center, local government units, developmental partners, and the community for their role in maintaining public health safety.

Public Health Reminders

Despite the negative result, the IPHO emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant to prevent the spread of Mpox and other infectious diseases. They released the following health advisory:

  1. Maintain Proper Hygiene: Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand rubs.
  2. Avoid Direct Contact: Steer clear of individuals showing symptoms like rashes or fever.
  3. Follow Health Protocols: Wear masks in crowded areas and practice physical distancing.
  4. Seek Medical Attention Promptly: Consult a healthcare professional if experiencing symptoms such as fever or skin rashes.

Continued Commitment to Public Health

Minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding of the Ministry of Health – BARMM and Dr. Minalang reaffirmed their dedication to safeguarding the health of Lanao del Sur residents. “This result is a relief, but it serves as a reminder that infectious diseases remain a serious threat. Let us stay cautious and proactive,” said Dr. Sinolinding.

Residents are encouraged to report any health concerns to the IPHO Healthline at 0977 850 0751 for assistance.

By working together, the IPHO believes the province can maintain its public health defenses and ensure the safety of all its citizens.
