Bongao, Tawi-Tawi – In a coordinated operation on November 23, 2024, law enforcement agencies successfully apprehended a high-value drug target in Barangay Poblacion, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
The operation was spearheaded by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Provincial Office Tawi-Tawi, in collaboration with the 300 Air Intelligence and Security Wing 5135th Air Base Squadron of the Philippine Air Force, the Coast Guard Intelligence Unit Central Tawi-Tawi, Bongao Municipal Police Station, and other regional support units.
Authorities confiscated one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu weighing approximately 50 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱340,000. In addition, buy-bust money and identification cards were also seized during the operation.
The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Rossbirt Maddan Alih, also known as “Ungud,” is a fish vendor and resident of Barangay Baka-Bakaw, Languyan, Tawi-Tawi. He is currently under the custody of Bongao Municipal Police Station and faces charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This successful operation highlights the continuous efforts of the authorities to combat illegal drug activities in the region, ensuring safer communities for the people of Tawi-Tawi.
