CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Anti-drug operatives seized approximately two kilograms of suspected shabu worth an estimated ₱13.8 million and arrested two drug suspects, including a High-Value Individual (HVI), during a major buy-bust operation in Barangay Puerto on Friday, June 12.

The operation was conducted at around 1:33 p.m. in Zone 6, Barangay Puerto by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), in collaboration with the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC), the 1001st Battalion Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB-10), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10 (PDEA-10).

Police said the operation was carried out under the supervision of PMaj Aldren E. Baculio, Chief of the CDEU, and under the leadership of PCOL Dexter G. Paje, City Director of COCPO. The operation was conducted in coordination with PDEA-10 through Pre-Operation Number 11-00-06122026-0012.

Authorities arrested two suspects during the operation, one of whom was identified as a High-Value Individual involved in the illegal drug trade.

Recovered from the suspects were several large sachets containing approximately 2,030 grams of suspected shabu. Based on the standard drug price index, the confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated street value of ₱13,804,000.

The successful operation dealt a significant blow to the illegal drug network operating in Cagayan de Oro City and highlights the continuing efforts of law enforcement agencies to curb the proliferation of dangerous drugs in Northern Mindanao.

The arrested suspects were taken into police custody and are expected to face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the suspects pending documentation and further investigation. Meanwhile, the seized drug evidence will undergo proper inventory and laboratory examination as part of the case build-up against the arrested individuals.

Police officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations and urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious activities in their communities.

The latest seizure ranks among the significant anti-drug accomplishments recorded in the region this year, underscoring the government’s sustained campaign against illegal narcotics and organized drug trafficking activities.
