IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay — Three individuals were arrested and approximately 15 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard market value of ₱102,000 were seized during a police and anti-drug operation in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, on September 10, 2026.
The operation was carried out at around 10:35 a.m. in Purok Dahlia, Barangay Lower Taway, as personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office led the implementation of a search warrant against the suspects.
Arrested were alias “Intsik,” 25; alias “Arsenal,” 21; and alias “Fernand,” 20, all reportedly residents of Barangay Lower Taway, Ipil.
Authorities said the operation resulted in the recovery of approximately 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as shabu, which was valued at ₱102,000 based on the standard market value cited by authorities.
Aside from the suspected illegal drugs, operatives also recovered several items believed to be associated with the use or handling of illegal drugs, including small sachets, strips of aluminum foil, lighters, scissors, and other drug paraphernalia.
The operation was conducted by the PDEA Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office with the support of the PDEA Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) in Zamboanga Sibugay, Ipil Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit (MDEU), 106th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, and Naval Intelligence and Security Unit 63.
The arrests form part of continuing law-enforcement efforts against the illegal drug trade in Zamboanga Sibugay, with authorities using search warrants and coordinated operations to identify and apprehend individuals allegedly involved in the possession, use, or distribution of prohibited drugs.
The three suspects are expected to face charges for alleged violations of Sections 6, 7, 11, and 12 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The provisions cited by authorities cover various drug-related offenses, including the operation of drug dens or related premises, employees and visitors of such establishments, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia, depending on the specific circumstances established by investigators and prosecutors.
The suspected shabu and other recovered items are expected to undergo the appropriate examination and documentation as part of the evidence-gathering process.
The suspects remain entitled to due process, and the allegations against them will have to be established before the proper court.
