CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10) dealt another major blow to the illegal drug trade after authorities seized more than ₱1.12 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested three drug suspects, including two High-Value Individuals (HVIs), in separate anti-illegal drug operations conducted in Barangay Lumbia on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

The twin operations, carried out by joint police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) teams, resulted in the confiscation of approximately 165 grams of suspected shabu with a combined Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱1,122,000.00, underscoring the continuing crackdown on illegal drug syndicates operating in Northern Mindanao.

Female HVI arrested in early morning buy-bust

The first operation was launched at around 2:24 a.m. by personnel of Police Station 8-Lumbia, in coordination with the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) and PDEA Region 10, at KM-1, Barangay Lumbia.

Arrested was a 35-year-old woman, identified only by the alias “Pet-pet,” a resident of Barangay Iponan, Cagayan de Oro City. Authorities classified her as a High-Value Individual (HVI) following her arrest.

Recovered from her possession were 12 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing approximately 50 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱340,000.00. Police also confiscated a coin pouch and a ₱500 bill used as marked buy-bust money.

Initial investigation revealed that alias “Pet-pet” had allegedly been involved in the illegal drug trade for four years. Although reportedly serving as a helper to a neighborhood drug dealer, authorities said she had become actively engaged in distributing illegal drugs within her barangay and neighboring communities.

Investigators further disclosed that she is allegedly a first-time offender and had turned to illegal drug activities as her primary source of income.

Two more suspects, including another HVI, fall in second operation

Several hours later, at around 10:10 a.m., another joint anti-drug operation was conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU)-COCPO, together with the CMFC and PDEA Region 10, inside Lumina Homes, Barangay Lumbia.

The operation led to the arrest of alias “Chan,” 37 years old, married, and identified as another High-Value Individual, along with alias “Rolf,” 45 years old, single. Both are residents of Cagayan de Oro City.

Authorities seized 17 sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 115 grams, with an estimated value of ₱782,000.00. Drug paraphernalia and another ₱500 marked buy-bust bill were likewise recovered during the operation.

Police said the two suspects were also first-time offenders based on initial records. Investigators alleged that both had no stable means of livelihood and had resorted to selling illegal drugs as their principal source of income.

Criminal charges being prepared

The three suspects are currently under the custody of Police Station 8-Lumbia and the City Drug Enforcement Unit for documentation and legal processing.

Authorities are preparing charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act No. 9165).

Alias “Pet-pet” and “Chan” will face charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), while alias “Rolf” will be charged for violating Section 5 of the same law.

The confiscated drug evidence has been turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for qualitative and quantitative laboratory examination.

PRO-10 vows intensified anti-drug campaign

Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano, Regional Director of PRO-10, commended the operating teams for the successful operations and emphasized the police force’s unwavering commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks across the region.

He lauded the close coordination between the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office and PDEA Region 10, stressing that collaborative law enforcement efforts continue to strengthen the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

The successful operations highlight PRO-10’s sustained efforts to identify, monitor, and apprehend individuals involved in the illegal drug trade as authorities intensify intelligence-driven operations aimed at making communities safer and preventing the proliferation of dangerous drugs throughout Northern Mindanao.
