CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Anti-drug operatives arrested a High-Value Individual (HVI) and confiscated more than ₱700,000 worth of suspected shabu during a successful buy-bust operation conducted in Pueblo Business Park, Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City on June 10.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Raffi,” was apprehended by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) in a coordinated anti-illegal drug operation.

The operation was carried out with the support of the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) and in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 10 (PDEA-10).

Authorities said the suspect was caught in possession of six sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 105 grams. The seized illegal drugs have an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱714,000, making the operation a significant blow to the illegal drug trade in the city.

In addition to the suspected shabu, operatives recovered the buy-bust money used during the transaction, a mobile phone, a sling bag, and other pieces of evidence believed to be connected to the suspect’s alleged drug activities.

The arrest forms part of the intensified anti-illegal drug campaign being implemented by law enforcement agencies in Northern Mindanao, targeting high-value drug personalities and dismantling local drug distribution networks.

Following his arrest, alias “Raffi” was placed under the custody of the CDEU-COCPO for proper documentation and investigation. Authorities are currently preparing the appropriate criminal charges against the suspect for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police officials emphasized that the operation reflects the continuing commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs and protect communities from the harmful effects of narcotics.

The successful operation underscores the importance of sustained coordination between the police and anti-drug enforcement agencies in addressing the illegal drug problem, which remains a major concern in many urban communities across the country.

Authorities urged the public to continue supporting anti-drug efforts by reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with law enforcement agencies in the fight against illegal drugs.
