The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned residents across Mindanao to expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms as Easterlies continue to affect the entire country while Tropical Storm “Caloy” maintains its strength east of Northeastern Mindanao.

According to the Regional Weather Forecast issued by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, Tropical Storm “Caloy” (international name: Hagupit) was last estimated at 925 kilometers east of Northeastern Mindanao as of 3:00 a.m. yesterday.

The weather disturbance was located at coordinates 9.9°N, 133.9°E, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour. It continues to move west northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour.

Despite remaining far from the Philippine landmass, PAGASA said the combined effects of the tropical storm and prevailing Easterlies are expected to bring unstable weather conditions across several parts of Mindanao over the next 24 hours.

Areas in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga Region, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) are forecast to experience intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon and evening periods.

In the Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, temperatures are expected to range between 24°C and 34°C with light to moderate northeasterly winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

In Northern Mindanao, provinces such as Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental are likewise expected to experience cloudy intervals with possible thunderstorms. Bukidnon may record some of the warmest temperatures in the region, reaching up to 35°C.

The Davao Region, including Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, will also experience unstable weather conditions with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 34°C. PAGASA noted that coastal areas in Davao Oriental may experience moderate sea conditions due to stronger northeasterly winds.

Meanwhile, provinces under SOCCSKSARGEN such as South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and North Cotabato are expected to have warm daytime temperatures reaching up to 35°C amid occasional rainshowers and thunderstorms.

In the Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, moderate northeasterly winds and moderate coastal waters are expected to persist as rain-bearing clouds continue to affect the area.

The BARMM provinces, including Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur, are also forecast to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated to scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised residents in low-lying and mountainous areas to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms, especially in areas prone to flooding and soil erosion.

Fisherfolk and small sea vessels were likewise advised to exercise caution when venturing into the eastern seaboards of Mindanao due to moderate coastal conditions brought by the enhanced northeasterly winds.

Authorities continue to monitor the movement of Tropical Storm “Caloy” as it moves closer to the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Residents are encouraged to regularly monitor official weather bulletins and advisories from PAGASA for updates.
