SAN FERNANDO, Bukidnon — Five members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), including one Priority Support to Records (PSR)-listed individual and four Non-PSR-listed members, voluntarily surrendered to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday afternoon, January 4, 2026, at the headquarters of the 1003rd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10) in Sitio Colon, Barangay Halapitan.

The surrender, which took place at around 5:50 p.m., resulted in the turnover of assorted firearms and ammunition, marking what police described as a significant gain in the government’s continuing peace and security campaign in Northern Mindanao.
According to PRO 10, the surrenderers were identified by their aliases, with real names withheld for security reasons. They include “Junrey,” a 21-year-old team leader of Platoon Uno, Squad Dos, GF Malayag, SRC 2, NCMRC, who is PSR-listed since March 2020; “Jimboy,” 35, a supply officer of GF55, SRGU, SRC, SMRC; “Muran,” 25, also a supply officer of the same unit; “Buts,” 18, likewise a supply officer; and “Pael,” 28, a squad leader of GF55, SRGU, SRC, SMRC. All are reportedly residents of Sitio Nalubas, Talaingod, Davao del Norte.
Police said “Junrey” surrendered a caliber .45 Safari Arms pistol with one magazine loaded with seven live rounds. The others turned over homemade firearms, including a caliber .38 revolver with four live rounds, a homemade shotgun with six 12-gauge shells, a caliber .22 revolver with two live rounds, and another homemade shotgun with five 12-gauge shells.
Authorities said the former rebels decided to abandon the armed struggle after growing weary of life in the underground movement and expressing a desire to live peacefully with their families. They were also influenced by former comrades who had earlier surrendered and benefited from government reintegration and assistance programs.
The voluntary surrender was facilitated by the 1003rd Maneuver Company, RMFB 10, with support from S2 RMFB 10, the 1004th Maneuver Company, San Fernando Municipal Police Station, the 1st and 2nd Bukidnon Provincial Mobile Force Companies, Bukidnon Police Intelligence Unit, Bukidnon PIT–RIU 10, and the RPSB San Fernando Cluster.
The surrendered CTG members are now under the custody of intelligence operatives of the 1003rd Maneuver Company for custodial debriefing and profiling, while the firearms are temporarily secured at the unit’s Supply Office.
PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 10 (PRO 10), commended the operating troops and partner units for their sustained efforts and close coordination with local communities.
“This surrender reflects the impact of our focused police operations and strengthened collaboration at the grassroots level,” Abrahano said. “We remain steadfast in encouraging CTG members to lay down their arms and choose the path of peace, assuring them that the government is ready to support their reintegration into society and help them rebuild their lives through lawful and peaceful means.”
The accomplishment forms part of the continuing peace and security initiatives of PRO 10 under the agenda of Acting PNP Chief PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., aimed at weakening insurgent groups while promoting lasting peace and development in Northern Mindanao.
