GENERAL SANTOS CITY — A 19-year-old female student from Polomolok, South Cotabato, was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation–Sarangani District Office (NBI-SARDO) during an entrapment operation on September 10, 2026, following a complaint that she allegedly demanded as much as ₱659,000 from a 54-year-old government employee.
The operation was conducted after the government employee, a bachelor and resident of General Santos City, sought the assistance of the NBI, alleging that the young woman had repeatedly demanded money from him and threatened to expose their relationship to his workplace if he refused to pay.
According to the complaint and information released by NBI-SARDO Agent-in-Charge Atty. Noel Morales, the two initially met through an online dating platform in November 2025. They later met personally at a mall in General Santos City on December 23, 2025.
The complainant alleged that they met again on January 9, 2026, when they had sexual intercourse.
Several months later, in April 2026, the woman allegedly contacted him and told him that she was pregnant.
It was reportedly after the pregnancy was disclosed that the woman began asking the government employee for money.
According to the complainant, the first major demand was ₱300,000, allegedly intended to cover the cost of terminating the pregnancy. The man reportedly refused initially but claimed that the demands continued.
Other amounts allegedly involved included ₱35,000 and ₱150,000, with the total amount allegedly given or demanded eventually reaching approximately ₱659,000, according to the complaint.
The complainant further alleged that the woman threatened to reveal their relationship to his colleagues and superiors if he failed to provide money.
The alleged threats reportedly included claims that revealing the relationship could jeopardize his employment and expose him to possible legal consequences.
The NBI said investigators examined the parties’ cellphone conversations and found exchanges that allegedly showed repeated demands for money and threats to expose the complainant.
The complainant also claimed that the woman represented herself as a minor during some of their exchanges, allegedly warning that the government employee could lose his job if his office learned about their relationship.
The alleged demands continued into September.
When the woman allegedly asked for another payment of around ₱70,000 to ₱75,000, the complainant decided to seek NBI assistance.
The bureau subsequently arranged an entrapment operation. On September 10, agents arrested the 19-year-old during the operation in the vicinity of General Santos City Hall.
The NBI’s investigation also allegedly found that the woman’s claim that she had undergone or intended to undergo an abortion was not supported by their findings, and investigators treated the pregnancy-related claim as part of the alleged scheme to obtain money from the complainant.
Based on the complaint and the initial investigation, the NBI filed a case for robbery with extortion against the 19-year-old suspect.
The suspect remains in NBI custody while the appropriate legal proceedings are being pursued.
The allegations remain subject to court proceedings, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
