Cagayan de Oro City, Dec. 10, 2025 — Two members of a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) voluntarily surrendered to government forces on Tuesday morning in San Fernando, Bukidnon, marking a significant gain in ongoing efforts to curb insurgency in North Central Mindanao.
The surrenderers were identified as alias “Datu,” 58, Vice Commander of Squad Dos, Guerilla Front Malayag, and alias “Tata,” 32, the unit’s Supply Officer. Both are farmers from Brgy. Bonacao, San Fernando. “Datu” has been listed in the government’s Periodic Status Report for the fourth quarter of 2019. Authorities said the decision to surrender was influenced by their families’ earlier surrender to government forces.
During the turnover at the 1003rd Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10 (RMFB 10) headquarters in Sitio Colon, Brgy. Halapitan, “Datu” handed over an M1 Carbine .30-caliber rifle with defaced markings, two steel magazines, and 14 rounds of ammunition. “Tata” surrendered a homemade .22-caliber rifle with a magazine.
The operation was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the 1003rd and 1004th Maneuver Companies, RMFB 10, San Fernando Municipal Police Station, Bukidnon PMFC, Bukidnon PIU, and BUK PIT-RIU 10. The surrendered firearms are now secured at RMFB 10’s Supply Office, while the two former rebels undergo custodial debriefing and profiling.
PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahan, Regional Director of PRO10, lauded the surrender, highlighting it as a clear testament to the effectiveness of intensified law enforcement operations combined with active community engagement.
