Authorities recovered a cache of abandoned, cut timber believed to be linked to illegal loggers during a surveillance and monitoring operation in Barangay Digkilaan, Iligan City on Monday morning, December 2, 2025.

Personnel of Iligan City Police Station 6 (ICPS6), led by OIC PCPT Sedrix D. Mag-Abo, discovered the illegally sourced lumber around 7:30 a.m. in Purok Tingcob while conducting operations in support of the intensified campaign against illegal logging.

According to the ICPS6 report, operatives found several piles of freshly cut wood estimated at ₱3,850 in total value. The seized timber included one log measuring eight inches in diameter, three logs at seven inches, another at six inches, and multiple pieces cut to 2x2x4 dimensions.

Police said the logs appeared to have been hastily abandoned, likely after suspects sensed the presence of law enforcers in the area.

The recovered timber was immediately turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for proper disposition as authorities continue efforts to identify and pursue the individuals behind the illegal activity.

Law enforcers reiterated that operations against illegal logging remain a priority as the city seeks to safeguard its remaining forested areas and hold violators accountable.
