GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XII (PDEA RO XII) destroyed more than ₱34.6 million worth of illegal drugs and expired regulated medicines in a ceremonial disposal held on November 17, 2025, at Monte Cielo Eternal Gardens.

The activity, led by Regional Director DIR III Charlene R. Magdurulang, highlighted the agency’s continuing effort to safeguard communities in Region XII and uphold strict compliance with Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Executive Judge Paolo R. Aquino of the Regional Trial Court Branch 49 in Alabel served as Guest of Honor and Speaker. In his message, he underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in the destruction of drug evidence, stressing that proper disposal is essential to maintaining public trust in the justice system.

PDEA reported the destruction of the following drug evidence and regulated substances:

  • Shabu: 4,933.5971 grams valued at ₱33,548,460.28
  • Marijuana: 5,785.3216 grams valued at ₱694,238.59
  • Expired regulated medicines: ₱435,986.21

To guarantee the integrity of the process, representatives from the Department of Justice, Public Attorney’s Office, local government units, civil society organizations, and media witnessed the destruction. PDEA chemists also conducted random drug testing on the evidence prior to disposal.

PDEA RO XII said the activity reinforces its unwavering commitment to combating illegal drugs, ensuring accountability in drug operations, and protecting communities across Region XII.

The agency reiterated that destroying seized drugs prevents them from ever re-entering the illegal market—an action they consider vital in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in the region.
