DAVAO CITY – Early this morning, Friday, September 26, 2025, at exactly 4:47 a.m., authorities apprehended a suspect during an inspection at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT). The operation was jointly conducted by Task Force Davao (TFD) and the Tourist Police of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) as part of ongoing efforts to enforce Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Joey,” is a 34-year-old male, married, employed as a bus conductor, and a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Obrero, Butuan City.
Initial investigation revealed that Joey was carrying a package reportedly owned by a certain Mr. Alexis Labrador. The package, which originated in Butuan City, was intended for delivery to Panabo City.
During routine baggage scanning, the duty operator detected suspected illegal contraband. Upon inspection, authorities confiscated one (1) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The substance weighed approximately 101.24 grams and carried an estimated street value of ₱688,432.
Colonel Rodrigo A. Mariñas Jr., Commander of Task Force Davao, commended the diligence of both TFD and DCPO personnel for their strict screening of passengers and vehicles at the city’s entry points. He stressed that these sustained efforts ensure illegal contraband does not enter Davao City and help safeguard the welfare of all Davaoeños.
The suspect, along with the confiscated evidence, was turned over to the Davao City Police Office (PS15-Ecoland Police Station) for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.
