September 3, 2025 – Mindanao — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has advised Mindanao residents to brace for localized thunderstorms throughout Wednesday, September 3, with potential risks of flash floods and landslides during severe downpours.

As of 3:00 AM, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was spotted 1,190 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon. While the weather disturbance is too far to directly affect Mindanao, localized thunderstorms are expected to influence weather conditions across the island.

PAGASA’s Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) reported that most provinces will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Winds will generally be light to moderate coming from the south to southwest, while coastal waters are forecast to remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging between 0.6 to 1.2 meters.

Regional Outlook

  • Zamboanga Peninsula (Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City): Expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with localized rainshowers and thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures may reach up to 33°C, cooling to 23–31°C at night.
  • Northern Mindanao (Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental): Similar weather conditions are forecast, with highs ranging from 31–33°C and lows between 22–30°C.
  • Davao Region (Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental): The region will continue to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies and scattered thunderstorms, with temperatures hovering between 23–32°C.
  • SOCCSKSARGEN (North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani): Weather will be mostly cloudy with occasional thunderstorms. Maximum daytime temperatures are expected at 31–32°C, dropping to 22–30°C by night.
  • Caraga Region (Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands): Cloudy skies with thunderstorms are likely, with temperatures ranging from 24–32°C.
  • Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM – Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi): The region will experience partly cloudy skies with localized thunderstorms. Temperatures may reach 32°C in lowland areas, while upland provinces like Lanao del Sur could see cooler conditions at 22–29°C.

Public Advisory

PAGASA reminds the public to remain vigilant against sudden heavy rainfall, which may trigger flash floods in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous communities. Fisherfolk and small sea vessels are also advised to take precautionary measures as coastal conditions, while generally moderate, may become risky during thunderstorms.
