QUEZON, Bukidnon — Marisol “Akang” Agohayon, 24, died after allegedly being shot in the forehead by her 25-year-old live-in partner, Nelven Asintal Igsolin, inside their home in Purok 9, Quimtras, Barangay Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon, at around 1:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Agohayon was rushed to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Maramag but was declared dead on arrival.
Initial police investigation indicated that the couple had been arguing shortly before a gunshot was heard coming from their bedroom. Neighbors reportedly heard the dispute before being startled by the sound of a firearm being discharged inside the residence.
Igsolin’s father rushed into the room to check what had happened and found Agohayon lying on the bed, covered in blood, with an apparent gunshot wound to her forehead. He reportedly attempted to restrain his son, but Igsolin fled toward a nearby sugarcane field.
Personnel of the Quezon Municipal Police Station immediately launched a hot pursuit operation and coordinated with barangay officials and local security personnel to locate the fleeing suspect.
At around 7:30 a.m. on the same day, Igsolin was apprehended after reportedly returning to the residence. Barangay personnel helped secure him before turning him over to the police for further investigation.
Investigators recovered two cartridge cases believed to have come from a .38-caliber firearm at the crime scene. Authorities are examining the evidence and establishing the circumstances that led to the shooting, including the events preceding the couple’s argument.
Igsolin remains in the custody of the Quezon Municipal Police Station. Police indicated that he would undergo a paraffin test as part of the investigation and face the appropriate criminal complaint. An initial police account cited a homicide complaint, although the final charge will depend on the evidence gathered and the assessment of prosecutors.
Authorities have yet to disclose further details about the couple’s dispute. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to establish the full circumstances of Agohayon’s death and determine the appropriate legal action.
