QUEZON, Bukidnon — A senior citizen couple was found dead inside their residence in a remote village in Quezon, Bukidnon, with authorities suspecting foul play after investigators recovered spent bullet casings and discovered gunshot wounds on the victims.
The victims were identified only by their aliases, “Along,” 64, a farmer, and his wife, “Cidad,” 66. Their decomposing bodies were discovered inside their home in Purok 7, Barangay Palacapao on Friday afternoon, July 3, 2026.
According to an initial police report, personnel of the Quezon Municipal Police Station responded at around 4:30 p.m. after receiving a report from a concerned citizen regarding the couple’s condition. Upon entering the residence, responding officers found both victims already in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating they had likely been dead for several days before they were discovered.
Crime scene investigators from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) processed the area and recovered four spent .45-caliber shell casings and one live .45-caliber round. Authorities also confirmed that both victims sustained gunshot wounds, strengthening investigators’ belief that the elderly couple were victims of a violent crime.
Police said the couple’s home is situated in an isolated area, approximately 50 meters from the national highway and far from neighboring houses, making it less likely that nearby residents would have immediately heard or witnessed the attack.
Despite the apparent execution-style killing, investigators noted that there were no signs of forced entry into the residence. The house remained orderly, and the victims’ personal belongings appeared intact, with no indications that valuables had been stolen. The absence of ransacking has prompted authorities to consider possible motives other than robbery.
Investigators are now examining all possible angles, including personal disputes and other motives, while gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses who may have seen suspicious individuals or activities in the area before the incident.
The Quezon Municipal Police Station has launched a full-scale investigation to identify the perpetrators and determine the circumstances surrounding the brutal killing of the elderly couple.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could help solve the case, assuring that all leads will be treated with confidentiality as efforts continue to bring those responsible to justice.
