CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) seized approximately ₱3.264 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested four individuals in separate anti-drug operations conducted in Cagayan de Oro City and Camiguin on October 1 and 2, 2026, police said.

The operations, carried out by various police and anti-narcotics units, resulted in the confiscation of approximately 480 grams of suspected shabu, based on the quantities and valuations reported by PRO10, along with approximately 30 grams of suspected marijuana.

The largest seizure came from a buy-bust operation in Cagayan de Oro City late on October 1.

₱3.196 million suspected shabu seized in CDO

At about 9:59 p.m. on October 1, personnel of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU-10), together with the tracker team of CDO RID10, COCPO City Mobile Force Company, PDEG Special Operations Unit 10, and Regional Intelligence Unit 10, conducted a joint buy-bust operation in Lower Tambo, Barangay Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City.

Police arrested two individuals identified by the aliases “Bossing,” 35, single and unemployed, and “Eska,” 41, single and a jeepney driver. Both were identified by police as residents of Cagayan de Oro City.

PRO10 classified “Bossing” as a High-Value Individual (HVI) in the operation.

Authorities said they recovered six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of different sizes containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The suspected drug weighed approximately 470 grams and had an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱3.196 million.

Police also recovered a red sling bag and the ₱1,000 bill used as buy-bust money.

The seizure accounted for the overwhelming majority of the total suspected illegal drugs valued at approximately ₱3.264 million in the two operations.

Two arrested in Camiguin search-warrant operation

A separate operation was carried out just hours later in Camiguin.

At approximately 2:25 a.m. on October 2, personnel of the Mahinog Municipal Police Station and Mambajao Municipal Police Station, together with the PDEA 10 Camiguin Provincial Office and Camiguin PPO PIU/PDEU, implemented a PDEA search warrant for an alleged violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation resulted in the arrest of “Pat,” 35, and “Mae,” 49, described by police as unemployed live-in partners and residents of Camiguin. Both were classified as Street-Level Individuals (SLIs).

Authorities reported recovering 10 sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 10 grams, with an estimated SDP of ₱68,000.

Police also seized one sachet containing approximately 30 grams of suspected marijuana, with an estimated value of ₱3,600.

Other items recovered during the operation included a Winston cigarette pack, one Infinix cellular phone, and one Samsung Galaxy cellular phone.

Suspected drugs sent for forensic examination

The four arrested individuals were placed under the custody of the appropriate authorities for documentation and disposition and are expected to face charges for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165.

PRO10 said the confiscated suspected illegal drugs will be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for qualitative and quantitative examination. The forensic process will determine the actual composition and quantity of the substances seized.

The arrests and seizures remain subject to the appropriate legal proceedings, with the allegations against the suspects to be resolved through due process.

PRO10 vows sustained anti-drug operations

PRO10 Regional Director PBGen Nestor C. Babagay Jr. reaffirmed the regional police office’s commitment to sustained and intelligence-driven anti-drug operations across Northern Mindanao.

Babagay said the operations form part of the police force’s implementation of the Chief PNP’s Focused Agenda, stressing the need for discipline, accountability, and adherence to the rule of law and due process.

“These operations show our firm resolve against the illegal drug trade. We will intensify our operations, strengthen intelligence efforts, and hold those involved accountable. PRO10 will remain relentless in protecting Northern Mindanao,” Babagay said.

The two operations underscore the continuing anti-drug campaign of law enforcement agencies in Northern Mindanao, with police units working with intelligence and anti-narcotics counterparts to identify and apprehend individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
