The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration has placed the entire island of Mindanao under a weather outlook of partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms, as localized weather disturbances are expected to persist from early Tuesday morning until Wednesday.

In its 5:00 a.m. regional forecast, PAGASA said these localized thunderstorms may intensify at times, posing risks of flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas. Residents are advised to remain alert, especially during periods of heavy rainfall.

Widespread Rainfall Across Regions

The Zamboanga Peninsula, including Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City, will experience intermittent rainshowers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period. Temperatures in these areas are expected to range between 23°C and 34°C.

Similar weather conditions will prevail across Northern Mindanao, including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental, where temperatures may dip as low as 18°C in upland areas and peak at 34°C during the day.

In the Davao Region, including Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental, residents can expect similar conditions, with temperatures reaching up to 35°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, BARMM Also Affected

Localized thunderstorms will also affect provinces in SOCCSKSARGEN such as North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 35°C.

In the Caraga Region, including Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands, intermittent rains and thunderstorms are also expected, with slightly cooler coastal temperatures between 24°C and 33°C.

Meanwhile, in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), areas such as Cotabato City, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, and Maguindanao del Sur will experience similar weather patterns, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 34°C.

Sea and Wind Conditions

Across Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate, generally coming from the east to northeast. Coastal waters will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.4 to 1.5 meters—conditions considered generally safe for small seacraft, although caution is still advised during thunderstorms.

Advisory

PAGASA urged the public, particularly those in flood-prone and landslide-susceptible areas, to remain vigilant and monitor updates. Sudden downpours associated with thunderstorms may trigger rapid flooding and soil erosion.

“Localized thunderstorms may develop quickly and intensify within a short period,” the agency noted, emphasizing the importance of preparedness and early response.

Further updates can be accessed through PAGASA’s official channels as weather conditions continue to evolve.
