DAVAO CITY — Police arrested a man and a woman during a late-night anti-drug operation that led to the seizure of more than ₱100,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs in Barangay Buhangin on Saturday, January 17.
The suspects, identified only by their aliases “Negra,” 51, and “Joel,” 53, were apprehended at around 10:00 p.m. inside their residence in Zone 1, Barangay Buhangin, following a buy-bust operation conducted by personnel of the Buhangin Police Station 5.
According to police reports, operatives were able to purchase suspected shabu from the suspects, prompting their immediate arrest. Authorities confiscated several sachets containing a substance believed to be shabu with an estimated total value of ₱108,460.
The suspects were informed of their rights and taken into police custody, while the seized items were forwarded for laboratory examination as part of standard operating procedures.
Cases for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the two suspects.
Police reiterated their call for community cooperation, emphasizing that information from residents remains vital in sustaining the city’s campaign against illegal drugs.
