November 9, 2025 | El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental
Mindanao is expected to experience widespread rains, gusty winds, and rough seas throughout the day as Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-Wong) continues to move west-northwestward toward the Philippine archipelago, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced in its 5:00 a.m. regional weather forecast.
As of 3:00 a.m., the eye of Typhoon Uwan was estimated to be 230 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, with maximum sustained winds reaching 175 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kilometers per hour. The typhoon is moving west-northwestward at 35 kilometers per hour, and its wide circulation continues to bring adverse weather to parts of the Visayas and the entire Mindanao region.
Rains and Gusty Winds Over Caraga
PAGASA warned that the provinces of Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, and Agusan del Norte will experience rains with gusty winds due to the direct effect of Typhoon Uwan. Residents are cautioned against possible flash floods and landslides as rainfall may be moderate to heavy, occasionally intense throughout the day.
Coastal conditions across Caraga are forecast to be moderate to rough, with wave heights ranging from 1.8 to 4.0 meters, posing risks to small seacraft.
Cloudy Skies and Thunderstorms in the Rest of Mindanao
The rest of Mindanao — including the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) — will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. These weather disturbances are still linked to the expansive rainbands of Uwan, which may also produce localized heavy rainfall capable of triggering flooding and landslides in low-lying and mountainous areas.

PAGASA’s Advisory
PAGASA continues to remind the public, especially those living in coastal and mountainous areas, to remain vigilant for possible flash floods, storm surges, and landslides. Fisherfolk and small boat operators are advised not to venture into the sea due to dangerous wave conditions.
Local government units are urged to intensify monitoring and prepare evacuation plans as Uwan continues to enhance the southwest wind flow over Mindanao and nearby islands.
PAGASA forecasters EBZ and JPF noted that updates on Typhoon Uwan’s movement and intensity will be issued in succeeding bulletins.
