The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Mindanao Regional Services Division (MINPRSD) has forecasted generally fair weather conditions across Mindanao on Saturday, November 8, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

In its 5:00 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA warned that despite mostly calm weather, occasional heavy rains and strong thunderstorms may occur in several provinces, posing risks of flash floods and landslides, especially in flood-prone or mountainous areas.

Winds and Sea Conditions

Light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest will prevail over most of Mindanao, bringing slight to moderate seas with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters. Moderate winds are expected in the Davao Region and parts of Caraga, where sea conditions may become moderately rough at times.

Provincial Weather Outlook

Zamboanga Peninsula

Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela City will experience partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy skies with chances of rain showers or thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate from northeast to northwest, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate. Temperatures will hover between 24°C to 34°C.

Northern Mindanao

Provinces including Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, and Lanao del Norte can expect warm daytime weather with occasional afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Temperatures will range from 22°C to 31°C, while coastal waters are forecasted to remain slight to moderate.

Davao Region

Metro Davao, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, and Davao Occidental will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with intermittent rain showers and thunderstorms. Winds are expected to be moderate from northeast to northwest, resulting in moderate seas. Daytime temperatures will reach up to 33°C.

SOCCSKSARGEN

North Cotabato, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani will continue to experience fair weather in the morning, with possible localized thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. Winds will remain light to moderate with slight to moderate coastal seas, and temperatures will range from 24°C to 34°C.

Caraga Region

Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and the Dinagat Islands will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms, particularly in coastal areas. Moderate winds from northeast to northwest will prevail with moderate sea conditions. Temperatures are expected between 23°C and 35°C.

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)

Cotabato City, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Lanao del Sur will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy weather with isolated thunderstorms. Winds will be light to moderate, with slight to moderate coastal seas. Temperatures will range from 21°C to 33°C, depending on location and elevation.

Tropical Cyclone Update: Severe Tropical Storm Fung-Wong

As of 3:00 p.m. Friday, Severe Tropical Storm Fung-Wong (international name, code 2526) was located 1,195 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas (11.5°N, 136.4°E), moving westward at 25 kilometers per hour. It has maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and gustiness reaching up to 135 km/h.

While the system remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA continues to monitor its movement closely for any potential effects on the country’s eastern seaboard in the coming days.

Safety Advisory

PAGASA reminds the public, particularly residents in low-lying and mountainous areas, to stay vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides during periods of heavy rainfall. Fisherfolk and small sea vessels are also advised to exercise caution when venturing into open waters due to moderate seas.
