CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Police authorities in Northern Mindanao arrested three suspects, including a father-and-son tandem, and seized over ₱757,000 worth of illegal drugs during a successful buy-bust operation on San Lazaro Diversion Road, Barangay Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, on October 14, 2025.

In a report from the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO-10), the operation was jointly conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10, Police Station 3, City Mobile Force Company, Regional Intelligence Division 10, the PNP Drug Enforcement Group – Regional Field Unit 10, and the Regional Intelligence Unit 10.

The suspects were identified as alias “Roj,” 25, and his father “Rie-Rie,” 45, both residents of Barangay Puntod, District 3, Cagayan de Oro City, and “Rodi,” 42, from San Antonio, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental. Authorities revealed that “Roj” and “Rie-Rie” are both second-time offenders, while “Rodi,” who works as their helper, was also involved in the group’s illegal drug operations. Investigation further showed that “Rie-Rie” acted as the middleman in the drug transactions.

Confiscated from the suspects were nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing approximately 110 grams with an estimated street value of ₱748,000, and four large sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves weighing around 80 grams worth ₱9,600. Police also recovered a digital weighing scale and marked money used in the buy-bust.

The seized items were submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for laboratory examination, while the three suspects are now detained at the Maharlika Custodial Facility. Charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against them.

Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano, Acting Regional Director of PRO-10, lauded the operating units for their coordination and commitment to the government’s intensified anti-drug campaign.

“I commend our police units for their hard work and teamwork in this operation. This shows our strong commitment to stop the spread of illegal drugs in Northern Mindanao. We will not stop going after those who continue to destroy lives and communities through illegal drugs,” Abrahano said.

Authorities reaffirmed that PRO-10 remains steadfast in its mission to eradicate drug activities and ensure the safety and well-being of communities across Northern Mindanao.
