CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Authorities intensified their crackdown on illegal drugs after arresting two suspected drug personalities and seizing more than ₱800,000 worth of suspected shabu in an early morning buy-bust operation in Barangay Bugo on April 7, 2026.

Operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10 (RPDEU 10), in coordination with the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, Regional Intelligence Division 10, and Regional Intelligence Unit 10, carried out the joint operation at around 2:28 a.m. in Zone 1, Bantiles.
Arrested during the operation were two individuals identified only by their aliases Khalid and Risha. Khalid, 53, a farmer from Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, and Risha, 24, an online seller from Cagayan de Oro City, were reportedly living together and allegedly involved in the distribution of illegal drugs within their community and nearby areas.
Investigators disclosed that Khalid had previously been apprehended for a similar offense and had already served his sentence prior to his latest arrest.
Seized from the suspects were approximately 120 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of ₱816,000. Authorities also recovered several sachets believed to contain illegal drugs, a sling bag used as a container, and the marked ₱1,000 buy-bust money used in the operation.
The suspects are currently detained at the Maharlika Detention Facility, while the confiscated drug evidence has been turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for laboratory examination.
Criminal charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are now being prepared against the arrested individuals.
Police Regional Office 10 Regional Director PBGen Christopher N. Abrahano commended the operating units for the successful operation and emphasized the continued intensity of the region’s anti-drug campaign.
The regional police leadership underscored that law enforcement operations will remain relentless, targeting individuals involved in illegal drug activities regardless of the scale of their operations. Authorities stressed that the campaign aims to protect communities, particularly families and children, from the harmful effects of illegal drugs.
PRO 10 assured the public that intelligence-driven and sustained operations will continue across Northern Mindanao as part of its broader effort to curb criminality and ensure safer communities.
