ISABELA CITY, Basilan — A security guard assigned to a public high school was arrested Thursday evening, April 30, after police identified him as one of the Top 3 Most Wanted Persons at the city and municipal levels, facing a murder charge with no bail recommended.

The suspect, identified by authorities as Aldam Hanapi Sajili, was apprehended around 7:30 p.m. during a joint anti-carnapping operation conducted by the Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT-Basilan) and the Regional Highway Patrol Unit–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (RHPU-BAR). The operation was led by PLt. Ramon P. Landar Jr., HPG Provincial Officer, with support from the Isabela City Police Station under PEMS Merkain M. Idris and personnel from Ayala Station 9 of the Zamboanga City Police Office.
According to police, the operation took a decisive turn after operatives received information from a member of the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN), indicating that the wanted individual was working as a night shift security guard at Isabela City National High School in Barangay Eastside.
PLt. Landar immediately verified the tip using the E-Warrant system, which confirmed that the subject had an active warrant of arrest. Authorities then proceeded to the school, where the BIN informant later pointed to a man riding a motorcycle entering the premises as the suspect.
Police flagged down the individual and served the warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Branch 17 in Zamboanga City. The warrant, dated September 2, 2021, and signed by Presiding Judge Gracelina Pesy Gagarra Bernardo, charges Sajili with murder under Criminal Case No. 26444, with no bail recommended.
Landar confirmed that Sajili is listed among the most wanted individuals of the Zamboanga City Police Office.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Isabela City Police Office for documentation and eventual turnover to the appropriate judicial authorities.
School Statement Questions Identity
In a statement, the administration of Basilan National High School acknowledged the arrest but raised uncertainty over the suspect’s identity.
Based on school records, the apprehended security guard is listed under the name Muhammad Hussim Alkama, which differs from the name indicated in the warrant of arrest. The school emphasized that the discrepancy should be resolved through proper legal processes and deferred final determination to authorities.
The administration noted that Alkama had been connected with the school since 2019 as a job order personnel under a previous administration and was later absorbed by a licensed security agency in January 2025. The school also underscored that security personnel are required to submit necessary clearances through their agencies to ensure proper vetting.
While reaffirming its commitment to the safety and welfare of students, teachers, and staff, the school urged the public to respect due process and uphold the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise.
The school added that it is prepared to cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities as the investigation and legal proceedings continue.
