Villanueva, Misamis Oriental – Authorities intercepted and confiscated smuggled cigarettes worth over ₱2.6 million in a successful joint operation by the Opol Municipal Police Station, Regional Medical Unit 10, and Regional Special Operations Unit 10 on Tuesday, June 18.
The operation was launched following a tip from a concerned citizen who reported the unloading of suspicious cargo from a pump boat at Sharrah Beach Resort in Zone 7, Barangay Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement personnel discovered 60 boxes of Red Castorce cigarettes and 5 boxes of Red Modern cigarettes, with a combined estimated market value of ₱2,600,000.00.
