Cagayan de Oro City — In a concerted effort to combat motorcycle theft, the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) reported the successful recovery of five stolen motorcycles and the arrest of two minor suspects in separate operations conducted in Claveria and Jasaan, Misamis Oriental.
The first breakthrough came on June 15, 2025, after Claveria Municipal Police Station (MPS) received back-to-back reports from concerned residents regarding stolen motorcycles. One complainant reported the loss of his Honda XRM, while another reported the sighting of several suspiciously parked motorcycles at Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion, Claveria. Upon swift verification, police discovered four stolen motorcycles at the location.
The recovered motorcycles included:
- Kawasaki Bajaj CT 100, reported missing on June 10;
- Honda XRM, reported stolen on June 14;
- Bajaj CT 100, taken on June 15;
- Skygo motorcycle, missing since June 7.
Two male minors were identified as suspects in the carnapping incidents, but they managed to flee the area. The recovered motorcycles were placed under police custody for proper documentation and case processing.
Just two days later, on June 17, authorities from Jasaan MPS responded to a fresh report of a stolen Honda motorcycle in Barangay Natubo, Jasaan. Upon receiving intelligence that the vehicle was being transported to Claveria, Jasaan police coordinated swiftly with Claveria MPS. A hot pursuit operation was launched in Sitio Tulayas, Barangay Sta. Cruz, leading to the arrest of the same two 17-year-old male suspects and the recovery of the stolen motorcycle along with its ignition key.
Subsequent investigation confirmed that the two arrested minors were also behind the motorcycle thefts uncovered on June 15 in Claveria.
The suspects, along with the recovered vehicle, were turned over to Jasaan MPS. Case buildup is now underway at Claveria MPS for regular filing, while Jasaan MPS is preparing the inquest proceedings for the filing of appropriate criminal charges.
Police Brigadier General Jaysen C. De Guzman, Regional Director of PRO10, praised the swift and coordinated actions of the responding police units.
“I commend the swift response and coordination between Claveria and Jasaan MPS that led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of multiple stolen motorcycles. Let this serve as a warning that PRO10 will not tolerate vehicle theft and will pursue offenders, regardless of age, to ensure the safety of our communities,” said PBGEN De Guzman.
He also reminded the public to take extra precautions in securing their vehicles and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
