ZAMBOANGA CITY — A tragic ambush in Sitio Dulian, Barangay Calabasa claimed the lives of a 78-year-old man and his 17-year-old grandson on Monday, sparking outrage and concern among local residents.
Initial reports from authorities revealed that the victims were riding a motorcycle when they were attacked by still unidentified assailants armed with an M16 rifle. The elderly man died instantly at the scene, while his grandson succumbed to gunshot wounds shortly after the incident.
Forensic investigators recovered multiple spent shells from an M16 rifle at the crime scene, indicating the use of high-powered firearms. Both victims reportedly sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The Zamboanga City Police Office has launched a full investigation into the incident, but the motive behind the ambush remains unknown as of this writing. Authorities are exploring all possible angles, including personal, land-related, or other potential disputes.
