Zamboanga Sibugay, Philippines – June 17, 2025 — An active member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was shot dead by unidentified assailants early Tuesday afternoon in Barangay San Pedro, Tungawan town, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The victim, identified by authorities as 46-year-old Arbi Abdukahal, a member of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) under the 106th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, was killed around 1:00 p.m. in Purok Talisay.
According to the initial police investigation, two men on board a black Honda Click motorcycle arrived at the victim’s store. One of the suspects reportedly bought candy, as recounted by a witness who is the brother-in-law of the victim. Moments after the witness entered the house, he heard gunshots. Rushing outside, he discovered Abdukahal lying lifeless.
The suspects immediately fled toward the direction of Zamboanga City.
Police launched a hot pursuit operation and coordinated with nearby municipal police stations to initiate dragnet operations in an effort to apprehend the fleeing perpetrators.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, including determining the motive behind the fatal shooting.
