Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – A 43-year-old Indian businessman sustained gunshot wounds after being attacked by two unidentified suspects around 10:00 PM on June 16, 2025, along F.S. Pajares Street in Barangay San Jose.
The victim, known by the alias “Junie” and a resident of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, was reportedly standing in front of the Whal-Whal Restaurant near the Rotonda while talking on his cellphone when two men on a motorcycle suddenly approached and opened fire. Witnesses claim that the suspects fired at least five shots before fleeing in an unknown direction.
The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition, according to the Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack and are working to establish the identities of the assailants. A press statement released by the local police urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any relevant information or suspicious activity that could assist in the investigation.
“We assure the public that all necessary efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the suspects,” the statement said, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining peace and order.
