Buenavista, Agusan del Norte – Authorities successfully seized illegal drugs, locally known as “shabu” and “marijuana,” during an anti-illegal drug operation conducted on March 14, 2025, in Purok 2, Barangay 4, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.
The operation was led by personnel of the Buenavista Municipal Police Station (MPS) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) PRO13 and the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO). Law enforcement officers implemented a search warrant, resulting in the arrest of a suspect identified as alias “Ram-Ram,” a 45-year-old, jobless male categorized as a Street-Level Individual.
According to PCOL April Mark C. Young, Provincial Director of ADNPPO, the apprehended individual was informed of his rights in a language or dialect known to him. He is now in the custody of the Buenavista Municipal Police Station and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operation was conducted in the presence of representatives from the Department of Justice, media, and barangay officials, ensuring transparency and due process.
PCOL Young commended the joint efforts of law enforcement agencies in intensifying the campaign against illegal drugs. “I commend the personnel of Buenavista together with the personnel of PDEA PRO13 and ADN for working together to strengthen this war against illegal drugs in the province. This accomplishment is a solid testament to our resolve to rid our community of illegal drugs.”
Authorities continue to urge the public to report any suspicious drug-related activities to help maintain peace and order in the province.
