BUENAVISTA, Agusan del Norte (June 20, 2025) — Authorities seized suspected illegal drugs locally known as shabu and arrested a street-level drug suspect in a successful anti-drug operation conducted in Purok 3, Barangay Agong-ong, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.
The Buenavista Municipal Police Station (MPS), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 13 and PDEA Agusan del Norte, carried out the operation by virtue of a search warrant, resulting in the arrest of a certain alias “Hernan,” 39 years old, single, jobless, and a resident of the area. The suspect has been categorized as a Street Level Individual (SLI) in the illegal drug trade.
According to Police Colonel April Mark C. Young, Provincial Director of the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO), the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights in a language or dialect he understood and is now under the custody of the Buenavista MPS for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Recovered from the suspect were suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia. The operation was witnessed by representatives from the Department of Justice, local media, and barangay officials to ensure transparency and proper documentation.
“This operation is part of our intensified anti-illegal drugs strategy, which targets both the sources and the supply chains of illicit substances,” said PCOL Young. “It demonstrates the continued dedication of the Agusan del Norte police force to heed the call of the Chief PNP for a swift, responsive, and community-focused public service.”
Authorities emphasized that the successful operation reflects their commitment to building a safer and more drug-free community through proactive law enforcement and inter-agency cooperation.
