Camp Hon. Vicente L. Pimentel Sr., Tandag City – The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO), under the leadership of Provincial Director PCOL Harry B. Domingo, in collaboration with the Carrascal Municipal Police Station and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Carrascal, successfully conducted a two-day 2025 Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) Summit. The event, held from March 13 to 14, 2025, brought together 220 BPAT members from all 14 barangays of Carrascal, Surigao del Sur.
The summit aimed to enhance the capacity and capabilities of BPAT members in ensuring peace and order in their respective communities. This initiative was made possible through the combined efforts of the local government, law enforcement agencies, and other key stakeholders.
Among the notable attendees were Vice Mayor Hon. Jessie James T. Valle, Punong Barangays, and Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) council members. Their active participation contributed to meaningful discussions and training sessions focused on strengthening the role of BPATs in community security.
“This summit reflects our commitment to empowering our barangays and community leaders in the fight for peace and safety. With the active participation of our BPATs, barangay officials, and the support of our partner agencies, we are confident in our ability to address security challenges and foster a safer environment for all Carrascal residents,” said Mayor Vicente H. Pimentel III.
The summit featured various training sessions and interactive discussions on key topics, including community policing, conflict resolution, disaster preparedness, and enhancing coordination between BPATs and local law enforcement. These sessions aimed to equip BPAT members with essential knowledge and practical skills for maintaining peace and order in their communities.
The event concluded with a closing program graced by PCOL Harry B. Domingo, who was represented by PMAJ June O. Hontanosas, Assistant Chief of the Police Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU). In his message, PCOL Domingo highlighted the crucial role of BPATs in ensuring public safety and fostering strong partnerships between the police, LGUs, and the community.
“The BPATs play an essential role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities. This summit aims to strengthen their skills, improve collaboration between the police and local government units, and further foster community-based peacekeeping initiatives,” he stated. “Through partnerships like these, we ensure that the people of Carrascal continue to live in a safe and secure environment.”
BPAT members expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge, reinforcing their readiness to serve their communities. With their strengthened capacity, they remain committed to upholding peace and security in Carrascal.
