Sulu Sea – On October 19, 2024, U.S. Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) embarked on MV-22B Ospreys from Marine Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 165 (Reinforced) while stationed aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4). This operation is part of routine military exercises conducted by the U.S. 7th Fleet in the region.

The USS Boxer is currently steaming through the Sulu Sea, engaging in operations that support the U.S. Navy’s mission to foster collaboration with allies and partners in maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific. The 7th Fleet is the largest forward-deployed numbered fleet in the U.S. Navy, frequently interacting with various nations to promote security and stability in the area.

These exercises underscore the commitment of the U.S. military to regional partnerships and the strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific, amidst ongoing geopolitical challenges. The 15th MEU remains poised to respond to any situation, reinforcing U.S. presence and cooperation in the region.
