In a significant move to bolster maritime security, an activation ceremony was held at the Marine Barracks Domingo Deluana in Brgy. Sanga-Sanga, Bongao, marking the launch of Task Unit-MARSEC (Maritime Security) and Task Unit-AMPHIBIOUS. The event, organized by the 2nd Marine Brigade under the leadership of BGEN Nestor E. Narag Jr., PN(M), Commander of Joint Task Group (JTG) Atlas, took place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, bringing together top regional security officials.
PCOL Rodolfo A. Inoy Jr., Provincial Director of the Tawi-Tawi Police Provincial Office (PPO), attended the ceremony, lending his support to this crucial initiative aimed at enhancing security measures across Tawi-Tawi’s maritime borders. His attendance emphasized the Tawi-Tawi PPO’s commitment to collaborative efforts with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to safeguard peace and stability in the region.
RADM Francisco G. Tagamolila Jr., PN, Commander of Joint Task Force Poseidon, underscored the importance of the activation in his remarks, highlighting how these specialized units will reinforce the province’s maritime security capabilities. The addition of Task Unit-MARSEC and Task Unit-AMPHIBIOUS is expected to streamline the response to evolving security threats, particularly along Tawi-Tawi’s coastal and marine zones, where illegal activities and smuggling pose persistent challenges.
The coordinated approach represented by these newly activated units reflects the strong partnership between the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the AFP, aimed at addressing regional security needs effectively. The presence of PCOL Inoy signified a unified stand against threats to the province’s safety, emphasizing the importance of interagency cooperation.
