Agusan del Sur — In a coordinated anti-drug operation on the morning of September 19, 2024, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XIII (PDEA RO XIII), together with the Rosario Municipal Police Station and the Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit, successfully apprehended a suspect in a buy-bust operation in Purok 3, Barangay Libuac, Rosario, Agusan del Sur.
The operation, which took place at around 7:00 AM, led to the arrest of 27-year-old Alvin Dendero y Curato, a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Libuac. Authorities recovered one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu, valued at approximately Php8,000.00. Alongside the illegal drugs, non-drug evidence, including buy-bust money and an Android phone used in the transaction, was also seized.
Dendero faces charges for violating Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165, commonly known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The section pertains to the illegal sale of dangerous drugs, a severe offense under Philippine law, with heavy penalties including life imprisonment.
The successful operation highlights the continued efforts of PDEA and local law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal drug trade in the region and protect the community from the dangers of drug abuse.
