Talacogon, Agusan del Sur – A high-value target (HVT) was apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office XIII, in collaboration with the Talacogon Municipal Police Station and the Agusan Del Sur Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit. The operation took place on September 11, 2024, at 9:20 PM in Purok 8, Barangay Del Monte, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur.
Authorities seized one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of shabu valued at Php10,000.00, which served as the buy-bust item. In addition to the illegal drugs, operatives also confiscated the buy-bust money, one Android phone, and one ID card.
The arrested individual was identified as Joemar Curato y Plaza, a 36-year-old Barangay Kagawad and resident of Purok Santan, Barangay San Agustin, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur. Curato will face charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 as amended.
This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal drug trade in the region and underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
