Talacogon, Agusan del Sur – A successful buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office XIII (PDEA RO XIII) Agusan del Sur Provincial Office, in coordination with the Talacogon Municipal Police Station, led to the dismantling of a drug den in Purok 5, Barangay San Nicolas, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur, on the evening of March 8, 2025.
The anti-drug operation, which commenced at approximately 9:16 PM, resulted in the confiscation of several drug-related items, including heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu. The seized illegal substances weighed approximately 6.4 grams with an estimated street value of Php50,000.00. Authorities also recovered various non-drug evidence, such as aluminum foils, disposable lighters, marked money, and a mobile phone.
Three individuals were apprehended at the scene for their alleged involvement in illegal drug activities. They are now facing multiple charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The charges filed include violations of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 6 (Maintenance of a Drug Den), Section 7 (Visiting a Drug Den), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia).
Authorities emphasized that the operation was part of their intensified efforts to curb illegal drug activities in the region. PDEA RO XIII reiterated its commitment to combating the drug menace and called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
The arrested individuals are currently under police custody as they await legal proceedings.
