KORONADAL CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 honored numerous women from partner people’s organizations (POs) and agencies for their significant contributions to environmental protection and conservation during the culminating program for National Women’s Month on March 27.
DENR-12 Regional Executive Director Atty. Felix S. Alicer, together with ARD for Management Services Maria Elvira V. Lumayag, ARD for Technical Services Engr. Mama G. Samaon, and other key officials, led the awarding ceremony. Certificates of recognition were presented to the awardees in acknowledgment of their influence, dedication, and involvement in the conservation, management, and development of the region’s natural resources.
With the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” Alicer emphasized the crucial role of women across various sectors in driving national progress and sustainable development. He highlighted that their contributions are vital in shaping a better future for the country.
In addition to the recognition, several products from POs—key partners of DENR-12 in environmental conservation—were displayed during the event. These products showcased the entrepreneurial spirit of the women and underscored their commitment to sustainability and community development.
The event was attended by Regional Directors Engr. Omar M. Saikol of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB-12) and Engr. Efren B. Carido of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-12), along with Provincial and Community Environment and Natural Resources Officers (PENROs and CENROs) and other DENR-12 officials and employees.
The recognition program reaffirmed DENR-12’s commitment to fostering gender inclusivity in environmental advocacy, further empowering women to take active roles in conservation efforts.
