RT Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay — January 13, 2025
A voluntary surrender by a former supporter of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) was reported in Barangay Don Perfecto, RT Lim, Zamboanga Sibugay. The surrender took place in the presence of the 2nd Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Mobile Force Company and the RT Lim Municipal Police Station.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Flint S. Depnag, Provincial Director of the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, identified the surrenderer as a 30-year-old woman known by the alias “Jen.” A resident of Purok Bombil 2, Barangay Don Perfecto, Jen was formerly associated with the CTG Militia ng Bayan under the Guerilla Front Committee (SECOM Feliciano “A”).
The former supporter decided to return to the fold of the government, expressing a desire to live a peaceful life with her family. As part of the reintegration process, she received a sack of rice.
This development is in line with the national government’s intensified efforts to combat insurgency under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), the Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to encourage remaining CTG members and supporters to surrender, reintegrate into society, and contribute to building a “Bagong Pilipinas” (New Philippines).
Authorities remain steadfast in their appeal for unity and peace, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting former insurgents in starting anew.
