SOCCSKSARGEN, Philippines — Four former members of rebel groups voluntarily surrendered to the authorities during the Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) conducted by Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 on December 11, 2024.
Under the leadership of PBGEN Arnold P. Ardiente, Officer-in-Charge of PRO 12, the operations were carried out by various police units across South Cotabato, Sarangani, and other parts of the region.
Rebels in T’boli Return to Authorities
In T’boli, South Cotabato, personnel from the 2nd SCPMFC, T’boli MPS, and other units facilitated the surrender of two former members of the dismantled Guerrilla Front (GF) Musa at Barangay Laconon. The individuals, identified as alias “Mistah Pogi,” 39, from Maitum, Sarangani, and alias “Willie,” 25, from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, turned themselves in to authorities.
Surrender in Koronadal City
In a separate operation in Barangay Mabini, Koronadal City, South Cotabato, police secured the voluntary surrender of alias “Jane,” 26, a former member of GF ALIP and a resident of Makilala, North Cotabato.
Another Rebel Gives Up in Glan
Personnel from 1st SPMFC, RIU 12, and other units facilitated the surrender of alias “Aping,” 21, in Sitio Malinog, Barangay Satal Bukay, Glan, Sarangani Province. Aping, a former member of GF 71 under the Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR), also surrendered a homemade shotgun, two rounds of live ammunition, and a 40mm grenade.
Support for Former Rebels
The former rebels have been provided with initial rice and cash assistance. They will undergo custodial debriefing and are set to enroll in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which supports their reintegration into society.
PBGEN Ardiente welcomed their decision to surrender, stating, “PRO 12 welcomes your decision to surrender and reintegrate back to society. As you return to the folds of the government, we ensure your safety and provide support for your peaceful transition.”
Authorities emphasized their commitment to maintaining peace and supporting former rebels in their journey toward a new life.
