Zamboanga Sibugay, Philippines — In a firm display of resolve against illegal drug activities, the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office (ZSBPPO) carried out two successful anti-drug operations on November 26, 2024, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of suspected shabu.
First Operation: Ipil
A joint buy-bust operation in Purok Caimito, Barangay Sanito, Ipil, spearheaded by the Special Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of the Ipil Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of ZSBPPO, and the 903rd Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9 (RMFB9), resulted in the apprehension of a 39-year-old male suspect.
Authorities seized nine heat-sealed sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with a total weight of approximately 2.28 grams and an estimated street value of Php 15,504.
Second Operation: Alicia
In another coordinated effort, the SDET of Alicia MPS, in collaboration with the ZSBPPO’s 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and the 106th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, executed a search warrant in Sitio Curilao, Barangay Kawayan, Alicia. The operation targeted a 33-year-old male suspect for alleged violations of Republic Act (RA) 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
The team recovered eight heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 6.27 grams, with an estimated street value of Php 42,636.
ZSBPPO’s Commitment
The Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office commended the collaborative efforts of all units involved in the operations. The office reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal drug activities in the province, underscoring its dedication to maintaining peace and order.
“The success of these operations highlights the collective resolve of our law enforcement units in fighting illegal drugs. We will remain relentless in our efforts to make Zamboanga Sibugay a drug-free community,” the ZSBPPO stated.
Both suspects are now in custody and face charges under RA 9165, with further investigations underway to determine possible connections to larger drug networks.
