TUNGAWAN, Zamboanga Sibugay — A joint law enforcement operation in Barangay Linguisan, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, led to the arrest of an adult male suspect and the recovery of suspected illegal drugs, a firearm, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia, according to the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office.
The operation was carried out by the Tungawan Municipal Police Station and partner law enforcement units during the implementation of a search warrant at a location in Barangay Linguisan.
Police identified the arrested man as a newly identified street-level individual and said he is facing alleged violations of Section 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Authorities said the search resulted in the confiscation of 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, with a total estimated weight of 15 grams. Police placed the estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of the seized substance at ₱102,000.
Aside from the suspected shabu, operating personnel also recovered one caliber .45 pistol, two magazines, and 37 live rounds of ammunition.
Various drug paraphernalia and other non-drug items that police believe may have been used in connection with illegal drug activity were also seized during the operation.
The recovered items, together with the arrested suspect, were brought to the Tungawan Municipal Police Station for proper documentation, inventory, and disposition in accordance with established procedures. Police said appropriate charges are being prepared against the suspect.
The operation underscores the continuing focus of law enforcement authorities in Zamboanga Sibugay on individuals allegedly involved in street-level drug activities while simultaneously addressing the proliferation of loose and illegally possessed firearms.
PCOL Barnard Danie V. Dasugo, Provincial Director of the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, commended the operating units for the successful implementation of the search warrant.
Dasugo emphasized the importance of sustained and intelligence-driven law enforcement operations against illegal drugs and loose firearms, particularly those that target identified criminal activities within local communities.
The police provincial office said it will continue to intensify intelligence-driven anti-illegal drug and anti-criminality operations throughout Zamboanga Sibugay as part of efforts to strengthen public safety and security.
Authorities also reiterated that the seized substance remains suspected shabu pending the appropriate forensic examination and that the allegations against the arrested individual will be subject to the legal process.
