KITAOTAO, BUKIDNON — A 26-year-old man identified by police only as alias “George” died after suffering severe injuries when he was allegedly struck with a steel bar by his own father during a family altercation in Kitaotao, Bukidnon.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Sitio Mabuhay, Barangay West Dalurong, Kitaotao.
According to the police report, a heated argument broke out between George and his sibling. The confrontation reportedly escalated when George was about to punch his brother or sister.
Their father, identified as 53-year-old alias “Karding,” allegedly intervened in an attempt to stop the two siblings from fighting.
However, authorities said the situation turned violent when Karding allegedly struck George with a steel bar, hitting him in the head and neck and causing serious injuries.
The family reportedly faced another ordeal after the incident, as they had to walk for around three hours toward the center of Barangay West Dalurong in search of a vehicle that could transport the injured man for medical treatment.
George was eventually brought to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Maramag, but doctors declared him dead on arrival after efforts to save him were unsuccessful.
Police subsequently arrested Karding, who is now being held at the Kitaotao Municipal Police Station while authorities continue their investigation and prepare the appropriate charges.
The incident remains under investigation, including the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal assault.
Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the possible charges to be filed against the suspect.
The case serves as another grim reminder of how quickly family disputes can escalate into deadly violence, particularly when physical confrontation enters the equation.
