KITAOTAO, Bukidnon — A man was killed while his wife was seriously wounded after unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in a broad-daylight shooting incident in Purok 4, Barangay Sinuda, Kitaotao, Bukidnon on Monday morning, June 15, 2026.

The fatality was identified as Langag Katihuyan, who was declared dead upon arrival at a medical facility due to multiple gunshot wounds. His wife survived the attack but sustained a gunshot wound and is currently undergoing treatment at the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Maramag.
According to witnesses and social media posts shared by resident Jayson L. Batawan, the victims were immediately rushed for medical assistance following the attack. A video circulating online showed concerned residents rushing to help Katihuyan and transporting him aboard a barangay patrol vehicle, while his wounded wife was carried in another vehicle to the nearest hospital.
In an exclusive interview with local media, Kitaotao Police Chief PMaj. Jose Regner M. Sevilleno disclosed that Katihuyan suffered five gunshot wounds to different parts of his body, causing his immediate death. His wife was reportedly hit in the side, with the bullet exiting through her chest.
Initial police investigation revealed that the couple was about to board their motorcycle and travel to Quezon, Bukidnon when the suspect suddenly arrived on another motorcycle. Without warning, the gunman allegedly fired multiple shots at the victims before quickly fleeing the scene.
Authorities said the attack occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m., sending shockwaves through the local community.
Despite the gunman wearing a helmet during the attack, investigators have already identified a Person of Interest (POI) based on descriptions provided by witnesses who saw the suspect before and after the shooting.
Crime scene investigators recovered several spent cartridges believed to have come from a 9mm pistol, which is now undergoing forensic examination.
Police have yet to establish a definitive motive behind the attack. Investigators are currently exploring all possible angles, including personal disputes and other potential motives, while gathering additional evidence and witness statements.
As of this writing, authorities have not released further details regarding the identity of the suspect or the circumstances that may have led to the shooting.
The Kitaotao Municipal Police Station has intensified its investigation and launched follow-up operations aimed at identifying, locating, and arresting the perpetrator.
The deadly attack has left residents of Barangay Sinuda alarmed, as many are calling for swift justice for the slain victim and protection for his injured wife as the investigation continues.
