CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Police authorities seized an estimated 320 grams of suspected shabu with a combined value of ₱2.176 million and arrested three individuals in two separate buy-bust operations conducted in Cagayan de Oro City in the early hours of September 5, 2026, according to the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10).
The first operation was carried out at about 1:29 a.m. in Zone 1, Barangay Balulang by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), with support from the City Mobile Force Company (CMFC). Arrested were alias “Ronron,” 32, married, a motorcycle mechanic and resident of Upper Palalan, Barangay Lumbia, who was identified by police as a High-Value Individual (HVI), and alias “Jimboy,” 23, single, and a resident of Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental, whom authorities identified as a Street-Level Individual (SLI).
Police said “Jimboy” allegedly acted as an accomplice of “Ronron,” serving as a runner and courier who delivered illegal drug items to their intended recipients. The operation resulted in the confiscation of eight sachets containing approximately 220 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of ₱1.496 million. Authorities also recovered a cellphone, a digital weighing scale, packaging materials and the buy-bust money.
A second operation followed at around 2:54 a.m. in Bolonsori, Barangay Camaman-an, resulting in the arrest of alias “AL,” 40, single, a land caretaker and resident of the area. The operation was led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 10, with personnel from PNP intelligence and drug enforcement units, the CMFC and Police Station 2 of COCPO.
Initial police investigation indicated that “AL” was allegedly a first-time offender and had reportedly been conducting drug transactions at his residence. Authorities said the property’s quiet and hilly location was allegedly being used because it provided a favorable setting for buyers from the surrounding area and nearby communities.
Police recovered seven sachets containing approximately 100 grams of suspected shabu, estimated to be worth ₱680,000, as well as a pouch and the buy-bust money.
The combined seizures from the two operations amounted to approximately 320 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱2.176 million. The confiscated drug evidence has been turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for qualitative and quantitative examination.
Authorities are preparing charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, against the three arrested individuals. They remain under the custody of COCPO while documentation and other procedures are being completed.
PRO10 Regional Director PBGen Nestor C. Babagay Jr. reaffirmed the regional police command’s commitment to pursuing individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, while emphasizing that operations must be conducted within the bounds of law and established police procedures.
“These operations demonstrate our sustained and intensified efforts to dismantle the illegal drug trade through intelligence-driven and coordinated law enforcement operations,” Babagay said. “We will continue to strengthen our campaign against illegal drugs in close collaboration with our partner agencies to keep our communities safe and secure.”
The two operations underscore the continuing police focus on both alleged high-level drug personalities and street-level actors involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in Cagayan de Oro City. The seized substances, however, remain suspected shabu pending laboratory examination, while the allegations against the arrested individuals will be subject to the appropriate legal proceedings.
