VALENCIA CITY, BUKIDNON — A 29-year-old man was wounded after he was allegedly shot with an improvised shotgun by his drinking companion following an argument in Purok 17, Barangay Hindangon, Valencia City, Bukidnon, shortly after 2 p.m.
According to a police report, the victim and the 42-year-old suspect were drinking together in the area when an argument broke out between them.
Police said the suspect initially left the immediate area and proceeded to a nearby guardhouse in an apparent attempt to avoid further confrontation. However, the victim reportedly followed him to the guardhouse and allegedly punched the suspect in the genital area.
The confrontation then escalated when the suspect allegedly became angry, retrieved an improvised shotgun locally known as a “sumpak,” and fired at the victim.
The victim was struck on the right side of the chest.
He was immediately brought to a medical facility for treatment and was later reported to be in stable condition. Authorities did not disclose further details about the extent of his injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect reportedly fled the area following the shooting and remains at large as of the latest police report.
Police authorities are continuing their search for the suspect and investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the events that led to the confrontation and shooting.
The case remains under investigation, and appropriate charges are expected to be filed once the suspect is apprehended and the evidence gathered by authorities is evaluated.
