CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A 41-year-old man identified only by the alias “Jojo,” who was described by police as a high-value individual, was arrested after authorities seized an estimated ₱408,000 worth of suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City, on the evening of August 15, 2026.

The operation was conducted at around 8:34 p.m. by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 10 (PDEA-10), as part of intensified efforts against the illegal drug trade in the city.
Police identified the arrested suspect as a 41-year-old resident of Cagayan de Oro City. Authorities said he was allegedly involved in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in the area.
Recovered during the operation were five heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu with a combined weight of approximately 60 grams. The seized substance was placed at an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱408,000.
Authorities also recovered a pouch, a cellphone and the ₱500 buy-bust money used during the operation.
According to the initial police investigation, “Jojo” had allegedly been involved in a similar drug-related offense for the second time. Investigators further alleged that he had continued to engage in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in Cagayan de Oro City.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the Maharlika Custodial Facility of COCPO while police complete the necessary documentation and prepare for his legal disposition.
Authorities said charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared against the suspect. Section 5 covers the illegal sale, trading, delivery and distribution of dangerous drugs, while Section 11 covers the illegal possession of dangerous drugs.
Meanwhile, the confiscated suspected illegal drugs were brought to the Regional Forensic Unit 10 for qualitative and quantitative laboratory examination. The forensic examination will determine the nature and exact quantity of the seized substance.
The arrest is part of the continuing anti-illegal drug campaign being carried out by police and drug enforcement authorities across Northern Mindanao.
The Police Regional Office 10 said it will continue to conduct intelligence-driven operations against individuals allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, with the aim of disrupting drug distribution networks and bringing suspected offenders before the courts.
Authorities emphasized that the seized substance remains suspected shabu pending laboratory examination, and that the arrested individual will undergo the appropriate legal proceedings in connection with the allegations against him.
