ILIGAN CITY — Anti-drug operatives intensified their crackdown on illegal narcotics in Iligan City, leading to the arrest of three drug suspects and the seizure of nearly ₱450,000 worth of suspected shabu in two separate buy-bust operations conducted this week.

The largest haul came on June 12 when authorities arrested a High-Value Individual (HVI) identified only by the alias “Kagi” during a buy-bust operation in Purok 1, Barangay Saray.

The operation was spearheaded by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Iligan City Police Office, in coordination with the Iligan City Mobile Force Company, Iligan City Police Station 5 (ICPS5), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Authorities confiscated six sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 60 grams, with an estimated Standard Drug Price (SDP) of ₱408,000. Also recovered from the suspect were marked money used in the operation, a coin purse, scissors, a disposable lighter, and other pieces of evidence believed to be connected to illegal drug activities.

Police said the suspect is currently under the custody of ICPS5-ICPO while charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared.

Two days earlier, on the evening of June 10, another joint anti-drug operation resulted in the arrest of two alleged drug personalities in Purok 1, Barangay Santiago.

The suspects were identified as alias “Benot,” 35, a listed Street-Level Individual (SLI), and alias “Al,” 30, both residents of Barangay Santiago.

The operation was led by the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of Iligan City Police Station 1, with support from the Iligan City Mobile Force Company and PDEA Region 10.

Seized from the two suspects were six sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 5.3 grams, with an estimated street value of ₱36,040. Authorities also recovered the buy-bust money and a pouch allegedly used to store illegal drugs.

The arrested individuals are currently detained at PS1-ICPO, where investigators are preparing criminal complaints against them.

Combined, the two operations resulted in the confiscation of approximately 65.3 grams of suspected shabu with a total estimated value of ₱444,040.

Police officials said the successful operations underscore the continuing collaboration between local police units and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in suppressing the illegal drug trade in Iligan City.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations against both high-value targets and street-level drug offenders as part of the government’s ongoing campaign to curb the proliferation of dangerous drugs in communities across Northern Mindanao.

The seized substances will undergo laboratory examination to confirm their composition, while authorities continue to investigate possible links between the suspects and larger drug distribution networks operating in the region.
