CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Two suspected drug personalities, including a High-Value Individual (HVI), were arrested during a joint anti-drug buy-bust operation conducted in the early hours of Friday, May 29, in Zone 4, Barangay Kauswagan, authorities said.

The suspects were identified only by their aliases “Sam,” 20, tagged by authorities as an HVI and a resident of Zone 4, Barangay Kauswagan, and “Abdul,” 25, a resident of Upper Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City.
The operation was spearheaded by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office under the leadership of Police Major Aldren Estrada Baculio, in coordination with the City Mobile Force Company and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Northern Mindanao.
Authorities said the operation led to the confiscation of six sachets containing suspected shabu weighing more than 300 grams, with an estimated standard drug price of ₱2.04 million.
Also recovered during the operation were marked money used in the buy-bust transaction, a digital weighing scale, paper bags believed to be used for packaging illegal drugs, an eco bag, and an Android cellphone.
Police said the seized illegal substances and paraphernalia will undergo proper documentation and laboratory examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
The arrested suspects are currently under the custody of the CDEU-Cagayan de Oro City Police Office pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensify anti-illegal drug operations in the city amid continuing efforts to dismantle drug networks operating in urban communities.
