A man was killed in a shooting incident early Sunday morning, May 17, in Sitio Balao, Purok Kamungay, Barangay Ludiong, Dinas, Zamboanga del Sur, authorities confirmed.


The victim was identified as Mike Ian Macasling, who was found lifeless along the roadside several hours after residents reportedly heard a series of gunshots in the area.
According to initial reports, residents allegedly heard multiple gunshots at around 1:00 a.m. However, it was only at approximately 6:00 a.m. when the victim’s body was discovered and immediately reported to authorities.
Responding personnel from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) rushed to the scene to conduct assessment and coordination efforts.
Authorities later confirmed that Macasling was already dead upon their arrival.
Crime scene investigators from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) processed the area and recovered several alleged caliber .45 bullet casings believed to have been used in the attack.
Investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the killing and identify the suspect or suspects involved. Police said the case remains under active investigation.
The fatal shooting has alarmed residents in the community, with authorities continuing their efforts to gather witnesses and possible evidence that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible.
Local officials and responding agencies extended their condolences to the bereaved family of the victim as the investigation continues.
